Reynolds Appointed as Interim Chair of the Department of Pediatrics

Dear Colleagues,

I am pleased to announce that Anne Marie Reynolds, MD, MPH, has been appointed interim president and CEO of UBMD Pediatrics and interim chair of the Department of Pediatrics at the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at the University at Buffalo.

Dr. Reynolds comes into this role with a high level of experience, including serving as acting president and chair in 2022.

A member of UBMD Pediatrics and the Department of Pediatrics since 2004, Dr. Reynolds is the current division chief of Neonatology for both UBMD Pediatrics and the Jacobs School since 2017. Prior to this, Dr. Reynolds completed her medical degree, residency, fellowship and masters of public health here at UB.

Dr. Reynolds will continue her clinical duties and roles while also ushering forward the missions of UBMD Pediatrics and the Department of Pediatrics as interim president and chair: providing the best care to patients, improving child health locally and beyond, teaching students, residents and fellows, and leading excellence in research.

Additionally, at Kaleida Health, Dr. Reynolds will serve as interim chief of service for Pediatrics.

Dr. Reynolds completed her pediatric residency and neonatology fellowship through the University at Buffalo at Women & Children’s Hospital of Buffalo. Previously she served as the medical director for the NICU from 2013 – 2020 and currently serves as the medical director for the neonatal transport team. She has also led the Division of Neonatology at UBMD Pediatrics as the Division Chief since 2017.

Steven Lipshultz, MD, who has served as president and chair since 2018, has resigned from his roles as chair of the Department of Pediatrics and president and CEO of UBMD Pediatrics. We thank Dr. Lipshultz for his years of service as chair of the Department of Pediatrics and the many contributions he has made to our community through his extensive and impactful research.

Dr. Lipshultz is a leading expert in the field of pediatric cardio-oncology and is credited with having helped establish the field. A long-time National Institutes of Health (NIH) researcher and prolific research publisher, Dr. Lipshultz has been the principal investigator of several landmark studies on the causes and treatment of cardiomyopathy in children. Dr. Lipshultz will continue to share his expertise and advance the field of cardio-oncology at the Jacobs School.
